FPA Patent Attorneys (FPA) has been ranked Tier 1 for patent prosecution by Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars Handbook 2017 global awards. In reaching this status FPA join QANTM stablemate, Davies Collison Cave (DCC), as a top tier firm making QANTM the only IP company with all of its subsidiaries ranked in the top tier.
The Tier 1 status by the authoritative guide recognises the company’s patent prosecution and advisory services in Australia and builds on the success of last year where four patent attorneys from FPA and eight from DCC were declared individual MIP IP Stars for 2016.
“We are delighted to receive this award. It confirms our position as a leading patent attorney firm with deep expertise in servicing our local and global clients,” said James Cherry, Managing Director of FPA. “We pride ourselves on developing practical and tailored patent strategies and so it is very pleasing to see that our clients recognise and appreciate our efforts and the high quality of service we offer.”
QANTM Managing Director, Leon Allen, congratulated FPA on achieving the Tier 1 ranking. “QANTM is very pleased to see FPA join the ranks of DCC, also wholly owned by QANTM and with an established presence in the MIP IP Stars Tier 1 rankings.”

Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars
Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars rankings are based on extensive research carried out over a six- month period, starting from September each year. The MIP team of research analysts in London, New York and Hong Kong obtained information from firms and their clients through interviews, emails and online surveys. Research analysts also conduct desk research for publicly available information as well as a review of existing data we hold on firms. Among the attributes assessed are: strength of the firm’s IP team, workload, outcomes achieved for clients and track record. The research is conducted rigorously and impartially, and there is no cost to participate. Firms cannot vote or pay for their own inclusion, nor can they solicit votes from associates. The patent rankings are based on information available when the research was concluded in January 2017. Source: Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars 2017
